Dave Horstmann
Board Treasurer
Dave Horstmann is a person in long term recovery since January 2015. He is currently sitting as the Treasurer of the Board of Directors and has been part of the RecoveryATX board since 2018. He and a few others merged their startup recovery club, The Station, with RecoveryATX, and helped grow it from a volunteer only, grassroots organization, into a fully staffed, grant funded agency.
Dave is also the Chief Executive Officer of Glad You Made It (GUMI), a collective and non-profit in Austin, Texas, dedicated to creating inclusive, alcohol- and drug-free music, art, and community events. It aims to support people in recovery, "sober curious" individuals, and allies who want to enjoy live entertainment without the pressure of substance consumption.
Dave has also served as an ex officio member of the Board of Directors for Oxford House, Inc. through his service as the current Chairman of the Oxford House World Council, which he has served on since 2018. He entered Oxford House in early 2015 from being homeless, and left as an alumni in late 2018 and now owns his first home. In his time in Oxford House, he lived in three houses across south Texas, helping give guidance and support, including one he opened in Austin.
Outside of his service to the recovery community, Dave has a career as a Project Manager for a local metal fabrication company and has been in that industry since 2016. He moved to Austin from Houston to chase this opportunity and has been here since. He enjoys spending his free time biking, camping, hiking, attending live concerts and art shows, and traveling with his wife. They share a home together in Manor, TX with the world's best dog, Fawkes.
